Fulton Leader Chuck Eaton Qualifies for
Public Service Commission Race
ATLANTA, GA—Declaring his determination to be a better energy advocate for the people of Georgia, Fulton County Republican Leader Chuck Eaton today qualified for the seat on the Georgia Public Service Commission held by David Burgess.
“With near record highs on the price of oil today, energy costs are among the important topics on the minds of most Georgians,” said Eaton. “Now more than ever, we need a PSC leader who will think outside the box rather a life-long bureaucrat who is hampered with a regulator’s mentality. We need an entrepreneurial leader who will focus on the development of emerging fuels made from peanuts, corn, timber and soybeans—all key Georgia crops.”
According to Eaton, this race for the PSC seat will focus on Burgess’ neglect in watching after the energy needs of this state. Eaton states that Georgia ranks near the bottom in the production of new fuels and the PSC should lead in the effort to increase its renewable fuel capacity.
“The emergence of Georgia as a renewable fuel source would create thousands of new jobs in the state and give Georgia degree of energy independence from foreign sources of oil and natural gas,” continued Eaton.
As a community activist, Eaton serves as a representative for the Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Unit “B” (a citizen group which makes recommendations on zoning, land use, public safety and community issues) and is the Past President of the Buckhead Forest Civic Association.
A graduate of the Coverdell Leadership Institute, Eaton has managed campaigns for Representative Jeff Brown in Troup County, the Barr for Congress Campaign in Troup County, and the Phil Crane for Congress campaign. Chuck has served as a Delegate to the Georgia Republican Conventions in 1993, 1995, 1997, 2005 and the Fulton County Conventions in 2001, 2004, and 2005.
A resident of Atlanta with his wife Erika and their three dogs, Eaton is a realtor working in the investments and venture capital fields. Chuck is also a member of the Buckhead 50 Club, Woodruff Arts Center Friends, and the Atlanta History Center and the Eatons are members of North Avenue Presbyterian Church.
